The Martha Gault Art Gallery proudly presents Imprinted & Influenced, Print Processes by Gary Jurysta, Pittsburgh Master Artist. The exhibition is on view from August 28 through September 28, 2023. Please join us at the reception, Tuesday September 26, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Light refreshments served. Selections of prints from the estate of Gary Jurysta will feature traditional and experimental printmaking techniques using a wide range of processes, including intaglio, lithography, monoprint, relief, and silkscreen processes. Gary Jurysta explored a wide range of media over his life-long artistic career: printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture and more, but his focus on printmaking and painting were dominant. While living in New York City he produced many prints at the Parson’s School of Design while participating in the workshops conducted by John Ross (author of “The Complete Printmaker”). He taught printmaking and painting classes at several universities, including printmaking courses at SRU from 2002 through 2004. During his long career as a fine artist and educator Mr. Jurysta’s work was exhibited widely. In 2013 he received the Master Visual Artist award, and in early 2019 Mr. Jurysta had a career-wide retrospective of his work at the Southern Allegheny Museum of Art in Altoona, PA. Jurysta’s Memorial Exhibition was held at the Spinning Plate Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA, in April of 2022.Concurrent with Imprinted & Influenced, a student artwork exhibition is featured in the art gallery alcove: Paper Palette: Artworks from the Printmaking Studio.
